About Lacey, Obsidian Fitness Owner and Creator of Workout and Slide Boards:

Lacey is a registered nurse and a certified personal trainer. She created the Obsidian® Slide Board and workouts© and runs Obsidian Fitness in Millcreek, Utah. She’s a mom to three girls, including twins. Lacey has been teaching fitness classes for 23 years and training clients for 15 years. She invented the Obsidian® Slide Board 15 years ago to provide a safe and highly effective workout option for people aging or with injuries. Her workouts combine cardio, strength, core, balance and flexibility exercises to burn mega calories. Unlike traditional exercise, her workouts focus on moving side-to-side to target different muscles. Lacey believes in keeping workouts interesting and challenging to see results. If you are at the studio or home, Lacey promises a fun and effective workout that will help you get stronger. 

 

“The variety of classes keeps the workouts fresh, dynamic and challenging—because if you’re not challenging, you’re not changing,” according to Lacey. If you are exercising at our studio or at home, you will feel the after-burn effect all day, get stronger and have a blast.

Owner

Lacey Bruschke is the Creator of Obsidian® and the Owner of Obsidian® Fitness in Salt Lake City, Utah where Obsidian is the feature/exclusive program. Obsidian is also an in-home workout sold nationally and internationally. Lacey has appeared on QVC and has sold out of product multiple times! Lacey became certified as a personal trainer in May of 2007 with the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She specializes in Corrective Exercise Training, Weight Loss Management, Mixed Martial Arts and Sports Performance. Lacey began teaching group fitness classes in 2002. She is certified to teach Obsidian®, Kinesis, Bosu, TRX, Les Mills BODYPUMP™, and BODYCOMBAT™.

Lacey graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She has worked in Burn Trauma ICU and as a Pediatric Liver Transplant Coordinator at Primary Children’s Medical Center. Lacey has helped numerous clients improve their quality of life through fitness. Some of her personal training clients have gone on to play tennis at Georgetown University, volleyball at Haverford College and swim for Brigham Young University. She has also helped many clients recover from injuries, shed unwanted pounds and transform not just their bodies but their overall health. Lacey is competitive by nature and loves to push her clients to new heights. She is compassionate and kind, but don’t be fooled she will kick your butt! Her company, formerly known as DASH is an acronym, which stands for Determination, Attitude, Strength and Heart and describes Lacey’s approach to life’s challenges and any workout!

April has been teaching group fitness for 20 years. Lacey and April met while certifiying to teach BODYPUMP™ and have been loyal friends ever since. When Lacey decided to develop the Obsidian® Slide Board and workout, April was there every step of the way. She is beloved by all who take her classes. She began dancing at an early age and has always believed movement and physical activity to be vital to a long healthy life. She knows exercise has healed her life in so many ways and enjoys sharing those benefits with others. She believes in Obsidian® with all her heart. Not only because of the results they deliver, but because they are FUN! She hopes that people look forward to coming to class and leave feeling completely refreshed both mentally and physically. April graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors degree in Business Finance. She works full time for her family business, Schmidt’s Bakery. No one can understand how she can be so fit when she frosts cookies and cakes for a living!  April has 2 daughters and one son. April loves her family more than anything! She is extremely dependable and never misses one of her classes unless she is watching her girls dance! She is also known to bust out a dance move from time to time while coaching. Brianne NASM-CPT, Obsidian® Coach, Group Fitness Instructor

Brianne has been a welcome addition to the Obsidian team since 2010! She has been teaching Obsidian® for 10 years and has been a Les Mills BODYPUMP™ , RPM™ for over 15 years. Brianne is a NASM certified personal trainer. She is addicted to Obsidian because of the many features and benefits the Obsidian Slide Board provides. She loves exercise and believes it is the key ingredient to living a happier, healthier, and fuller life. Brianne is passionate about absolutely everything she sets her mind to. She is energetic, outgoing, and has a strong innate desire to care for others and help them reach their potential. Besides exercising, she loves her adorable twins, family, sports, traveling, personal growth, eating clean, and of course, OBSIDIAN® FITNESS! Brianne travels 30 minutes to teach because she loves it so much. She is also known for her fashion, travel, best eats tips and has the most fun playlists!

Obsidian® Coach since 2015, Les Mills BODYCOMBAT™ since 2009

Jade has been a part of the Obsidian® Team since we opened our doors in 2009! Jade is passionate about fitness and helping clients achieve their fitness goals AND have fun! She is OBSIDIAN® certified, Les Mills BODYCOMBAT™ certified, and has been coaching Beginner Obsidian since 2016. Jade loves helping people recognize their potential. She has been an athlete all of her life, and still plays softball, pickleball, and coaches her son’s Rugy and soccer team! Jade is the mother of 3 adorable kids and is all about family. She specializes in our beginner program because she knows how intimidating and overwhelming it can be to get started and wants to make sure you love Obsidian as much as we do. She is an amazing cook and knows the best food hacks! You won’t want to miss her class whenever you see her on the schedule! Jade moved out to Highland Utah and because she loves Obsidian so much has stayed on our team! She is our steady sub instructor and will also teach guest classes.

Natalie, NASM-CPT, Certified Nutrition Coach, Obsidian® Coach, Les Mills BODYPUMP™ and BODYCOMBAT™ Group Fitness Instructor

Natalie has always been one ball of energy. She loves doing anything outside in the sunshine, whether it be hiking, mountain biking, climbing, boating, skiing, tennis, or simply enjoying the fresh air. Her happy and uplifting personality is contagious. She played tennis for Skyline High School’s Tennis team all 4 years where she grew to love and appreciate a good sweat! Natalie graduated with her degree in Exercise and Sport Science with an emphasis in Fitness Leadership at the University of Utah. Obsidian® was first introduced to her in 2010. All it took was one killer class and she was hooked! She has been committed to Obsidian® Fitness since day one and was eager to learn all she could. Her love for health and fitness is something she enjoys sharing with everyone around her. “There is no better feeling than the feeling you get after accomplishing a deeply desired goal.” She is extremely loyal and committed to helping clients reach their health and fitness goals. Certified Personal Trainer, Obsidian® Coach
Pat is a certified personal trainer through the American Academy of Exercise. Pat started exercising as a young mother who couldn’t keep up with her 4 young children at the park. She started out as a volunteer aerobics teacher in her church and eventually started her own business. Like many people as they age, some health problems have at times slowed her down, but the new OBSIDIAN technique was the answer to bring back strength, stamina and the joy of feeling fit even at age 74. She is also the very proud mother of Lacey and the rest of the Obsidian instructors. Even more important to her than keeping healthy is the love of her life, her husband and her 5 children and 13 lively grandchildren. She has also spent many years as a counselor of troubled youth and a public speaker. Stress management is a favorite topic and exercise and gardening are her cure for anything. Pat als earned a Masters Degree from the University of Utah in speech pathology. Her clients refer to her program as “losing fat with Pat!” Pat’s motto is, LIVE LONG, LIVE STRONG.

Sara Jane Gelwix

Sara is a NASM CPT and a group fitness instructor. She is certified in Les Mills Body Vive™ and taught Vive for 2 years.  Sara attended her first Obsidian® class in 2009 and has been its number one fan ever since. Sara loves Obsidian® because it provides a full body workout while incorporating strength training and cardiovascular endurance.  She graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in history secondary education. Sara loves to exercise and help others reach their fitness goals. Her clients love her energy and positive attitude. Besides exercising, she loves to ski, play soccer, travel and spend her time out doors. When she’s not at obsidian, Sara is mom to 3 adorable kids and loves spending time with her family. When you train with Sara you will always get a great ab workout because she is SO funny! Sara’s clients always reach their fitness goals because of her genuine and authentic approach to coaching and keeping clients accountable.
